Maranatha Academy partners with Sharda University on Malawian students’ scholarship programme

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Maranatha Academy on Tuesday organized a special event in collaboration with Sharda University, a renowned institution of higher learning based in India, aimed at enlightening parents and guardians about the university’s programs and academic environment.

Speaking to the media,in Blantyre,Managing Director of Maranatha Academy, Ernest Kaonga, said the event was designed to create an open platform for dialogue with parents.

He explained that there are ongoing collaborations between Maranatha and Sharda, which is why the school invited parents to attend the meeting.

“There are certain things Malawians are not fully aware of. This was an opportunity for them to ask questions and understand how the university operates,” Kaonga explained.

He further noted that Malawian schools are making significant progress, thanks to improved systems and approaches to education.

On his part, Sharda University’s Country Manager, Rahul Pal, expressed delight at the level of interest and engagement shown by parents during the session.

“We were impressed by the thoughtful questions from parents who wanted to know more about the university and the opportunities it offers,” Pal said.

He highlighted that Sharda University provides a wide range of programs, including Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and many others across various disciplines.

Similar events are scheduled to take place in other cities, with the next one set for next week at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, followed by another at the Grand Palace Hotel in Mzuzu the week after.

Maranatha Academy faces closure for contravening Cholera sanction

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse Alliance government through Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MoEST) has warned and quashed a move by some private schools and Colleges to relocate to new premises without approval.

The development comes barely a week after Maranatha Academy Form Two and Form Four student from Blantyre to Balaka and Zalewa in Neno for classes following a government sanctioned extended holiday for Blantyre and Lilongwe schools owing to the cholera outbreak.

In a statement released on Monday, January 9, 2023 signed by Education Ministry Principal Secretary Chikondano Mussa and available to The Maravi Post says the relocation of schools without government approval contravenes section 38 of the Education Act 2013.

The Ministry has therefore asked Maranatha Academy to revert to its base or the school will be closed.

Education Ministry Spokesperson Mphatso Mkuonera hinted that the law will follow those that break it.

Some educationists have therefore advised affected school on Cholera to venture into online learning than contravening with the laws.

Malawi Court grants Matindi Academy injunction against Maranatha Academy’s “default ruling” on rentals claims

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The commercial Court sitting on Thursday morning, September 30, 2021 granted Matindi Academy stay order against against High court’s default judgement favoring Maranatha Boys Academy.

The injunction comes barely two days after the High court dismissed Matindi Private Academy Limited claims after it dragged Maranatha Boys Academy to court claiming it owed them rentals.

In his determination, the presiding judge of the case, Justice Masauko Msungama thrown out the claimants, Matindi Private Schools’ claims with costs for lack of tangible and admissible evidence and, therefore, ordered that they pay Maranatha Boys Academy damages and legal expenses.

This therefore means that any action to claim the damages has been stopped until a full hearing of the substantive matter.

The matter being that Maranatha Academy breached a lease contract which demanded full 10 year rentals in the first 2 years and enjoy 10 years of no rental increase.

Since they failed to pay within the stated period and still has arrears after three years of stay at Matindi Campus, the Landlord terminated the lease agreement.

According to Court case number 285/2021 documents filed by Maranatha Academy who owner is Ernest Kaonga has visibly altered documents used as proof of payment.

Malawi Court throws out Maranatha Academy’s application against Students’ eviction at Matindi campus

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The High Court of Malawi – Commercial Division in Blantyre has dismissed Maranatha Academy’s injunction against eviction of Students at Matindi campus.

The Academy’s owner, Ernest Kaonga, told journalists in Blantyre on Monday that the court has directed that the school files the application before the Judge who authorized sheriffs to close the school.

This follows eviction of students at the Academy on Friday, August 13, 2021 on rental disagreements between the school and the landlord.

Meanwhile, Kaonga says the school has entered into agreement with ASTEPI Private School at Luchenza in Thyolo to accommodate the students from next Monday to ensure learning continues.
