Former Malawi lands Minister Vuwa Kaunda’s son Davie aka Shenko arrested in South Africa for defrauding MRA MK130m

PRETORIA-(MaraviPost)-South Africa Police in Soweto are keeping in custody former Malawi lands minister Vuwa Kaunda’s son Davie Kaunda aka Shenko for defrauding Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) MK130 million.

According to sources close to Kaunda family disclosed that Davie was arrested along side other suspected criminal friends while clubbing, drinking and partying at Konka a Famous Night Club in Soweto on Saturday night, March 12, 2022.

Vuwa’s son arrested follows International Police’s wanted list.

This publication understands that in 2013 , Davie Kaunda ran away from Malawi after stealing MRA and public funds totaling to MK130 Million.

He has been hiding in South Africa where he was involved in defrauding Innocent South Africans and Malawians.

Davie pretended to be a Car Dealer who managed to convincingly conned the prospective buyers. After the buyers give him huge sums of money , Davie was no where to be seen.

Several South African victims reported him to the South African Police (SAP) who later launched a man hunt for Davie and his accomplices who operates and are behind a Notorious Cross Border Car thefts.

Davie Kaunda swindled public funds through auctioning of MRA’s Cars in 2013 which could be recovered.

“Instead of surrendering the money to government which was obtained from the Sales of MRA’s vehicles Davie Kaunda run away with the Cash and settled in South Africa.

“This Government’s money stand a chance of being recovered. Other Malawian individuals who were duped by Davie through car deals. This is also their time of recovering their hard earned monies,” says MRA official who refused to be named.

Davie Kaunda and other suspected criminals including four Zimbabweans, one Mozambican, and two South Africans.

They are meanwhile being kept at Sun City Prison in South Africa pending to appear in court.

Malawi’s South africa embassy are yet to comment on the matter.

Davie’s father, who is also opposition Democratic Progress Party (DPP) lawmaker for Nkhatabay central was not available for comment on several attempt.

South Africa father arrested for brutally defiling 20-month-old baby to death

PRETORIA-(MaraviPost)-The South Africa Police are keeping in custody a 27-year-old man who allegedly raped his daughter in Ntsimbini in Port St Johns before her demise.

The Eastern Cape police confirmed the incident in statement adding that the man’s sister witnessed the incident before she alerted the police and community.

The couple had been staying together and cared for the child before the deviant misshaping, Citizen reported.

According to Police statement, the child’s mother had gone to town at the time of the incident and had left the baby in her father’s care.

The sister who witnessed the tragedy alerted the community of Ntsimbini A/A, Tankini Locality in Port St Johns before the return of the mother.

The baby’s father was subsequently arrested by the community before they rushed the toddler to the hospital where she later succumbed to the injuries.

The diabolic father is currently being detained on rape and murder charges and is due to appear in court on Monday.

Statistics show that South Africa has been plagued by surging rape and abuse cases for the last couple of years.

In 2021, the country had the world’s highest levels of violence against women.

The police crime statistics indicated that the period between 1 July to 30 September 2021, almost 10 000 people were raped with most victims often violated in their own homes by people they knew and trusted.

South Africa police shot Journalist Mweli Masilela on face

MPUMALANGA-(MaraviPost)-South African reporter Mweli Masilela has been shot in the face by police while covering a story involving collision between taxi operators and police in KwaNyamazane in Mpumalanga on Monday June 29.

Reports revealed that Masilela was shot by rubber bullet few minutes after arriving in the area to cover the story while police officers were firing some shots in attempt to ensure order after taxi operators closed off a highway blocking roads leading to the township.

According to The Citizen news, taxi operators downed tools on Monday demanding that government reconsider its budget on the relief provided to the taxi sector.

Government imposed a 70% loading capacity to tax operators as one way of curbing the spread of coronavirus and several of them have protested against it claiming they’re not making the needed profit.

Commenting on the matter in a press briefing on Monday morning, June 29, 2020 , Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has urged operators to express their dissatisfaction proactively and not by challenging the law.

Mbalula added that the law will be maintained if the tax operators will continue challenging the authority of the state.

PRETORIA-(MaraviPost)-The South Africabased Malawian Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, the founder of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church, on Monday disputed media reports allegations that his bodyguards blocked South Africa Police to access him on legal matters.

Prophet Bushiri reaction comes after  two South African media houses, publishers of City Press and News24 on Sunday reported that his security detail had a three-hour standoff with South African Police. Aparantly the Police wanted to obtain a statement from him that ended with the officers fleeing the premises.
