Golden Bachelor Mel Is ‘Undecided’ Between Final 2 Amid Fantasy Suite: Recap

Golden Bachelor Mel Owens is on the hunt for The One — and clarity — as he takes on the fantasy suites with his final two women.

The Wednesday, November 5, episode, kicked off with Mel, 66, traveling to Antigua with remaining contestants Peg Munson and Cindy Cullers — and teasing that the tropical location “could be the perfect place to fall in love.”

While gearing for his first overnight date, Mel noted that the fantasy suite is “not just about the physical relationship” and admitted to host Jesse Palmer that it’s a “razor thin” decision between Peg, 62, and Cindy, 60.

With hopes of lowering Peg’s “tough exterior,” Mel began his first overnight date with a drive on a dune buggy. Stopping for a drink at a lookout point, Peg opened up to Mel about continually taking on the role of the “protector” in her relationships and explaining that a romance for her is a “slow burn” — but vows to “go deep” when she allows herself to love.

When asked how he feels their romance is going, Mel simply replied, “Good.” After Mel promptly changed the subject (not a good omen if you ask Us!), Peg admitted in a confessional that she worries whether Mel is “emotionally available.”

The pair then enjoyed a dinner sitting side by side — and she tried to ask Mel, again, his thoughts on their relationship. This time, Mel admitted that he “really” likes Peg (“a lot”, he says!) and she gushes that she feels “the same way.” Mel and Peg ultimately decided to take on the fantasy suite and are greeted with rose petals covering the bed and music playing below their balcony.

As the twosome began kissing, Peg jokingly kicked out the camera crew. “OK, everybody can leave, we are done. Love you, but,” Peg said with a laugh, before placing the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door.

The next morning, Mel gushed that the night “exceeded” his expectations with a “perfect woman” with whom he’s “quite compatible.” After the twosome debrief opening up about their respective divorces, Peg added in a confessional, “I feel like we understand each other better now. … All of my concerns definitely got answered last night.”

Golden Bachelor Mel Owens Picks His Final 3 Ahead of Hometowns

Sealing his and Peg’s overnight date with a kiss on the beach, Mel then took on his fantasy suite with Cindy — which included a boat ride and swimming with stingrays (or, as Mel calls them, “prehistoric-sized monsters”).

“I’ve told him that I’m falling in love with him. I have no idea if he feels the same way that I do,” Cindy said in a confessional, noting that she’s hoping to understand Mel’s “plans” for their hypothetical future.

After a brief swim with the stingrays — Cindy gave Mel the “confidence” for him to stick his hand out, she shared in a confessional that she’s hoping for more reassurance in their relationship. Back on land, Mel admitted in a confessional that he’s “undecided” between the two women — a sentiment he then repeats to Cindy during dinner.

“I’ve never been in the position before so I’m still working it out in my head and in my heart. I know the time is quickly coming to an end, but that’s the truth. But I love spending time with you, I love being with you,” Mel told Cindy, adding that he can’t “sit here and tell you that we’re going to be happily ever after if there’s another person.”

Cindy, meanwhile, shared that she doesn’t want to “push” Mel, but is curious what’s “holding [him] back” (for her, the chemistry is “off the charts!”) In response, Mel noted that he’s not going to “take the leap of faith” — which Cindy retorted is the whole point of the show.

“But I’m smart enough to know that that’s not how my life operates,” Mel said, while Cindy replied, “So you knew when you agreed to be the Golden Bachelor that this ended in a proposal. Is that not a leap of faith for you?”

As they began discussing their past marriages, Mel noted that he took his time to tie the knot with his first wife and is unsure whether he’s ready to get married just yet. In the wake of Mel’s honesty, Cindy began to question whether his hesitations are because of her, a “tighter” relationship with Peg, or “who he is.”

“So what do we do from here?” Cindy asked, while Mel replied, “If there’s a will, there’s a way.” With a cliff-hanger, Cindy concluded, “So that begs the question, is there a will?”

The Golden Bachelor season 2 finale airs on ABC Wednesday, November 12, at 9 p.m. ET.

Endurance athlete marks ‘Jaws’ anniversary with swim to change shark narrative

A British-South African athlete aims to become the first person to swim around Martha’s Vineyard, a popular tourist destination south of Cape Cod in the United States.

In temperatures of just 8 degrees Celsius, the 100-kilometre swim around the island will coincide with the start of the white shark migration season.

“Fifty years ago, there was a blockbuster film ‘Jaws’ and it was about sharks attacking humans. And for 50 years, we have been attacking sharks,” he said.

He said the film helped shape public perception of the apex marine animals as evil predators and the aim of the swim is to change the narrative for a new generation.

“Sharks are actually essential for the health of our oceans and we need to be protecting them. About a hundred million sharks are killed every single year,” he said.

The endurance swimmer offered a land-based example to explain why sharks are so important.

“Imagine in Africa if you killed all the lions, and then you’ll find that all the zebras start multiplying, and the gazelles, and the wildebeest. And they start eating the grass and bush and all of the vegetation, and very soon you have an ecological collapse,” he said.

Pugh said the exact same thing happens when you take out all the sharks saying that very soon you have “a watery desert”.

His attempt to round Martha’s Vineyard gets underway on Thursday.

Pugh will be swimming three to four hours a day in the brutally cold surf where Jaws was filmed, wearing just trunks, a cap, and goggles.

The 55-year-old will spend the rest of the day on land educating people about sharks. The swim is expected to take about 12 days.

Pugh was the first person to complete a long-distance swim in every ocean of the world and has taken on extreme conditions everywhere from Mount Everest to the Arctic.

Nigeria: Visually impaired children learn to swim in push for inclusion

Despite Nigeria’s extensive waterways and long coastline, swimming remains a rare skill – especially among children.

Yet here in Lagos, efforts are underway to change that.

A group of visually impaired children are being taught to swim, and in doing so, they’re breaking barriers far beyond the pool.

Each splash is a defiance of the odds in a country where swimming is not part of the school curriculum and access to public pools is scarce.

In rural and underserved urban communities, the dangers of not knowing how to swim are real.

According to the World Health Organization, over 200,000 people drown globally each year, with the vast majority in low and middle income countries.

In Nigeria, the lack of structured swimming education and basic water safety awareness only deepens the problem.

Children aged 1 to 14 are among the most vulnerable, and for children with physical or visual impairments, the risks are even greater.

They’re often excluded from sports and water safety programmes, not because of inability, but because of inaccessibility and a lack of inclusive training.

Even everyday situations, like floods, water storage at home, and leisurely outings can become life-threatening.

Cultural beliefs, too, play a part. In some communities, water bodies are feared — not embraced. Superstitions and economic hardship combine to create a population where generations grow up without ever learning how to swim.

Yet here, the water is a place of freedom, not fear.

For swim coach Emeka Chuks-Nnadi, who founded ‘Swim in 1 Day Africa’, it’s a powerful tool for inclusion.

He says: “I realised that people living with disabilities are not getting the right therapies and swimming. So, their counterparts living in developed countries are getting this on a regular. And Swimming in 1 Day is all about closing the gap and making it something that people living with disability can also enjoy because it really gives them a better quality of life. Of all the therapies that people living with intellectual disabilities in the world could get, water therapy in swimming is the one that actually affects their brains and has a direct impact.”

Through water, the programme restores dignity and challenges some ideas still present in parts of society.

Chuks-Nnadi continues: “There is a thing in Africa where parents are ashamed of their kids and they have to lock them up, so, educating people, putting word out there and trying to make people understand that your child that is blind or visually impaired could actually become a swimming superstar or a lawyer or a doctor.”

From the first dip to the first unassisted stroke, the impact, says Chuks-Nnadi, is immediate and visible.

“The impact is direct and it’s immediate. When I take a child or an adult that doesn’t know how to swim and I put them in the water, I see immediately the impact, which is that there is a huge transformation that happens. The joy that they express, the gratitude and the love. It’s awesome,” says Chuks-Nnadi.

There’s science behind the emotion too.

Swimming stimulates brain activity, boosts mood, and builds confidence, especially for children with developmental or cognitive challenges.

“The transformation that happens with swim in the water therapy with children with disabilities is enormous. We cannot even start counting the benefits. The benefits is just so huge because these kids, first of all, swimming touches that part of your brain that gets you very excited where you have this good feeling where these kids start doing things and become things that I never expected to see from them. So, every time I’m even at awe, with what happens, because the transformations I’m not controlling, but the transformations are amazing,” says Chuks-Nnadi.

And the children themselves are proof of just how far-reaching those changes can be.

Fikayo Adodo, 14, says: “Swimming have taught me a lot, it has actually helped me a lot, especially in class. I’m very confident now to speak in the crowd, to interact with people. My brain is sharp now, like very great.”

For 10-year-old Boluwatife, swimming has brought courage and pride.

Boluwatife Oladimeji, 10, says: “I was happy when I learned how to swim because I thought I can never do it. But by the courage I build in myself, I can do it and I’m very proud of myself to know how to swim. So, when I go out and they ask me can you swim? Yes, I’ll be proud to say I can swim.”

And for Ikenna, aged 13, the water is more than therapy. It’s a place where fear disappears.

Ikenna Goodluck, 13, says: “Swimming has taught me to face my fears, it has given me boldness, it’s given me courage, it has made me overcome my fears.”

In a country where floods are frequent and water travel is common, these lessons could one day save lives.

But today, they are giving children something just as vital – hope, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Malawi sets sights on 2026 commonwealth games qualifiers

By Twink Jones Gadama

The Malawi Olympic Committee (MOC) has identified seven sporting disciplines to focus on for the 2026 Commonwealth Games qualifiers, which are set to begin this year. The Games themselves will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2026.

According to MOC Director General Naomi Chinatu, the targeted sports are judo, boxing, swimming, netball, parasport, weightlifting, and cycling. Chinatu emphasized that qualifying for the Games is a crucial step, as failure to do so would mean Malawi cannot compete.

The MOC has already submitted a budget of K635 million to cater for the qualifiers. Chinatu expressed confidence that national sports associations have already started preparing for the qualifiers, as this falls under their responsibility.

Malawi has a rich history of participating in the Commonwealth Games, having made its debut in 1970 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The country has competed in every Games since then, winning medals in sports like boxing.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow promise to be an exciting event, with the city having previously hosted the Games in 2014. The Games will feature a 10-sport program concentrated across four venues within an eight-mile corridor of the city.

George Black, Chair of Glasgow 2026, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as Chief Executive of Glasgow City Council.

As Malawi gears up for the qualifiers, the MOC’s focus on these seven sporting disciplines is a strategic move to ensure the country’s athletes are well-prepared for the competition.

With the qualifiers just around the corner, Malawian sports fans will be eagerly watching to see which athletes will make the cut for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

150 people hospitalized in Algeria after swimming

– –

About 150 people have been hospitalized after swimming at a beach in Algeria.

The seawater is suspected to have been polluted at Tenes in north-western Algeria, a regional official said.

Three beaches and a desalination plant have been closed for an investigation into the incident.

Local government official Lakhdar Seddas told the privately owned Echourouk TV channel that “149 people suffered nausea, fever and redness of the eyes and were taken to hospital.”

Seddas said the suspicions centre on a ship carrying livestock that had arrived recently at Tenes port.

– –

The website Ennahar Online named the ship as the Tanzanian-flagged Barhom II, and said it had arrived from the southern French port of Sete.

Twenty-eight divers and seven civil defense workers who were sent to investigate were also reported to have become unwell.

An official statement said an environment ministry team had taken air and water samples from the port at Tenes, beaches and other locations.

8 Awesome Summer Activities in the Swiss Alps

Swiss Alps

Many people, when they think about the Swiss Alps as a travel destination, don’t get past winter sports. But this is a mistake. The Swiss Alps is a popular vacation destination all year round. Well-known ski resorts such as Zermatt offer activities all year round, and if you go high enough, you can still ski on the Theodul Glacier.

In this post, we are going to discuss some other activities you can try if you plan to book a luxury Swiss cabin in the Swiss Alps this summer. If you want a mixture of sporting activities to keep you entertained, it’s a good idea to look at staying in or close to one of the main resort centers, but this isn’t obligatory. Whilst many of the big ski resorts offer different sports during the summer, you can stay in a bed & breakfast or even go camping and still have plenty of fun. And besides, sports aren’t the only activity on offer in the Swiss Alps during the summer months!

Here are a few more to whet your appetite.

1. Road Cycling

When it comes to cycling, there are few more exciting routes than traversing some of the many peaks made famous by the Tour de France. There are some ferocious climbs and corresponding descents in the Swiss Alps. You may not have the stamina to ascend the Tremola on the south side of the Gotthard Pass in one go. At 1,091 meters, it’s a challenging climb for all but the toughest cyclists. But the switchbacks are amazing, and you’ll want to take plenty of photos en-route. There is a nice restaurant at the top of the mountain, so at least you can refuel on Ovomaltine!

If the tough climbs of the Swiss Alps are too much for your legs, stick to flat routes along the valley floor and around the lakes. These are just as scenic, but not as tough on your quads.

2. Mountain Biking

Not all cyclists want to stick to smooth tarmac roads, which is just as well, as there are some amazing off-road cycle routes for mountain bikers. The Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt is one of the best-known mountain biking trails. It was originally used by alpine walkers but has since been adapted for mountain bikes. It is very technical in places and certainly not easy, but the breathtaking scenery more than makes up for the tough ascents and descents. Along the way, you will pass by the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc, taking in several high mountain passes and reaching altitudes of more than 2,500 meters. Make sure you switch on your Strava before you set off, as there is a lot of kudos to be claimed from completing such a challenging route.

If the Haute Route is too taxing, check out the bike trails in the Saas Valley. There are more than 70km of mountain bike trails, with sections for all abilities.

3. Walking and Hiking

It should go without saying that hiking and walking are both very popular in the Swiss Alps. You can hike from Zermatt up to the foot of the Matterhorn, descend the Gorner Glacier, and explore the region’s glacial lakes and mountain passes. Book a hiking vacation with a tour guide if you want to make the most of the mountain trails. That way you won’t get lost or end up taking a dangerous route.

Glacier hiking is something different, but it should never be attempted without a professional guide and suitable equipment. You can catch the cable car from Courmayeur and walk the glacier on Mont Blanc. The views are amazing. The Aletsch Glacier is also worth hiking.

4. Whitewater Rafting

Adrenaline junkies will want to try whitewater rafting in the Swiss Alps. There are rafting tours available from Interlaken and you can try your skills on class IV rapids. Courmayeur is a popular destination for whitewater rafting enthusiasts, but Lutschine is perhaps the most well-known.

5. Swimming

There are no shortage of cool Alpine lakes to swim in if you head to the Swiss Alps. Pack a picnic lunch and head up into the mountains on a hot day. Find a secluded lake and let the kids swim while you watch over them with a nice glass of wine in one hand and a sandwich in the other. There are many lovely mountain lakes close to Zermatt, so you can swim with the Matterhorn reflected in the water.

Kandersteg is one of the best locations for swimming in the Swiss Alps. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the scenery is outstanding. If you don’t want to swim, hire a boat and paddle up to the waterfall that feeds this beautiful mountain lake.

6. Fly Fishing

Fly fishing is a lot more relaxing than cycling, but no less fun. There are some wonderful lakes and streams in the Swiss Alps. The water is fresh and clear, which is perfect for fish species such as trout, char, and grayling. Some of the best fly fishing in the Swiss Alps can be found at Zermatt. With the mountains towering behind you, settle down for a peaceful day of fishing. Some local operators also offer fishing tours. You can fish on scenic privately-owned lakes adjacent to glaciers. What could be more perfect?

7. Play Golf

Switzerland isn’t known for its golf, but don’t let this dissuade you from taking your clubs along for the journey. There are two excellent 18-hole golf courses in the Swiss resort of Verbier, which should keep you entertained for a few days. You can practice your swing with the majestic Mont Blanc looming over you.

8. Painting

If you really want to take it easy, pack some sketchpads, pencils, and paints, and find a scenic spot to do some painting and drawing. There are few more scenic places than the Swiss Alps, so you won’t be short on inspiration.

The Swiss Alps are the perfect vacation destination for anyone. With luxury Swiss shepherd huts, chalets, ski cabins, and resort hotels, you can have a relaxing break and arrive home completely refreshed.
