The Egyptian king Mohamed Salah’s partways with Liverpool

LONDON-(MaraviPost)-Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian football sensation, is bidding farewell to Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025/26 season, marking the end of an era for the Premier League club.

“Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you,” Salah said in an emotional message on social media.

When Salah joined Liverpool in 2017, few could have predicted the immense impact he would have on the club and the international game.

In his nine seasons at Liverpool, Salah scored 189 goals with 92 assists, making him the most prolific contributor for a single club in Premier League history.

Salah’s achievements extend beyond Liverpool, as he is now the all-time top foreign goalscorer in the Premier League and the all-time top African goalscorer in the Uefa Champions League.

“In the pantheon of overseas attacking players to have excelled in England, only Thierry Henry eclipses Salah’s output and consistency,” said former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.

Fans across the globe are expressing their sadness about Salah’s departure, but the news has special meaning for Egyptians, who could see their most notable athlete leave the world’s most famous sports league.

Beyond football, Salah is one of the world’s most recognizable athletes and has used his platform to create change.

Salah is proud of his Muslim and Egyptian heritage, consistently challenging stereotypes and acting as a bridge between cultures.

His iconic goalscoring celebration, which involves kneeling down and bowing his head to the floor in an act of prostration, has become a symbol of his faith and identity.

While facing racism, Salah has been noted for his social impact and being a global role model.

A study by Stanford University found that since he joined Liverpool in 2017, there was an 18.9% drop in hate crimes in the Liverpool area and a 50% drop in anti-Muslim tweets.

Salah’s journey is a testament to his discipline and determination.

Starting out in local Egyptian teams with limited resources, he rose to Egypt’s national team in just five years and became one of football’s most revered players.

As Salah prepares to leave Liverpool, fans and teammates are paying tribute to his legacy.

“Watching you become the best at what you do and become one of the best to ever have worn the Liverpool shirt has been a joy to watch and be part of,” said Andy Robertson, Salah’s teammate.
