NAIROBI-(MaraviPost)-Three Kenyan police officers have been apprehended for dragging a half-naked woman behind a motorcycle while whipping her over alleged theft.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations confirmed the arrest on Thursday, June 11, 2020 in a statement.

Reports indicated that a video that went viral on social media in which the officers were seen dragging a half-naked woman behind a motorcycle while others were beating her on Wednesday in Kuresoi South, west of Nairobi attracted many people’s attention who demanded the arrest of the officer.

A report by Citizen Digital revealed that the woman was accused of breaking into a police officer’s house.

This has come at a time when the world has seen massive protests against racism and police violence prompted by the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old unarmed black man in the US state of Minnesota.

On Monday about 200 people held a protest in Nairobi over the deaths of 15 people at the hands of police since a curfew was imposed in March to fight the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, investigations have been launched into the matter.
