Malawi VP Chilima’s cancels whistle stops over security officers’ road accident

NTCHEU-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Vice President and Tonse Alliance runningmate Dr. Saulos Chilima on Thursday, June 11, 2020 abruptly cancelled whistle stops in Ntcheu district following his security officers involved in road accident.

Chilima who is also UTM leader had a number of whistle stops tours in the district ahead of June 23, 2020 polls.

UTM’s Publicity Secretary, Dr Joseph Chidanti Malunga confirmed the accident.

Malunga disclosed that a vehicle, which was ferrying the security officers overturned at Khomba in the district.

Dr Malunga said: “The Malawi Police Vehicle was ferrying the security detail. sadly it overturned throwing out the passengers who were all Police Officers from the vehicle.”

Dr Malunga further said it took other security officers to rash to the scene and help carry the wounded officers to Balaka Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

An additional team from Nsipe in Ntcheu was also dispatched to Balaka to be with the injured.

About ten Police Officers have been injured in the accident but are all receiving medical attention.
