MANILA-(MaraviPost)-At least eight people have died after Air ambulance bursts into flames in Philippines killing all on board, including an American & Canadian on Sunday night.
Manila airport general manager, Ed Monreal confirmed this in late-night news conference.
According to Monreal, the plane was heading to Tokyo on a medical mission when it caught on fire near the end of the runway and there were no survivors.
Reports by The Sun revealed that the Westwind 24 plane was carrying six Filipino crew members, one American passenger and one Canadian passenger before bursting into flames on Sunday whilst attempting to take off from Manila’s airport.
Other reports have also revealed that the plane had flown to central Iloilo province before the incident on Saturday to deliver medical supplies without any incident.
Commenting on the matter, the deputy chief of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Donaldo Mendoza said the aircraft was deemed “airworthy” based on records and its pilots were properly certified to fly.
He added that the plane encountered an unspecified “problem which resulted in a fire” as it rolled to take off and that its chief investigator was on the way to the scene.
Meanwhile, investigations have been launched to established what led to the tragedy.
