BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Police at Jenda in Mzimba are keeping in cooler two young men, Simon Ndawandawa,23,and Chisomo Ndawandawa,20, in connection with the murders of Matrida Kalua, Linda Gondwe, and Felix Makatanje, who were killed between May 17 and 21, 2025, near the Malawi-Zambia border at Jenda.

Jenda Police Station Public Relations Officer(PRO ), Sub Inspector Macfarlen Mseteka, has confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were apprehended on May 25, 2025, at Kapopo following investigations after reports of missing persons.

Mseteka says investigations revealed that the two, together with a Zambian national still at large, lured farm produce buyers by pretending to sell maize and soya beans.

He says they then led victims to secluded areas, attacked them with an axe, and stole their money and belongings.

The suspects led police to the Zambian side of the border, where they had partially buried Felix Makatanje, who was killed and robbed of K500,000 and his phone on May 17, 2025.

They later admitted to killing Matrida Kalua and Linda Gondwe on May 21, 2025, after stealing 1.6 million Malawian Kwacha from them.

Simon Ndawandawa, who was already on court bail for the suspected murder of his grandfather in 2024, and Chisomo Ndawandawa have both been charged with three counts of murder under section 209 of the Penal Code.

They are from Mkondowanjovu Village, Traditional Authority(T/A) M’mbelwa, and will appear in court soon once paperwork is completed.
