2024/25 Malawi academic year opens amid cholera, Measles outbreak fears

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The 2024/2025 Malawi academic year for Primary and Secondary schools opens today, September 16, across the country amid fears of Cholera and Measles.

Education Ministry Publicist Mphatso Nkuonera told The Maravi Post on Sunday evening that schools open today as planned.

“We have received and continue receiving media queries from media and the public probing to understand the Ministry’s position on opening schools tomorrow amid Cholera and Measles outbreaks.We have also been asked if schools near the already affected areas will open tomorrow.

“Therefore, kindly, be informed that the ministry will open all schools tomorrow Monday, 16th September, 2024,” assures Nkuonera.

Last month, Education Ministry inconjunction with Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) timely released the 2024 Primary School Leaving Certificate Education (PSLCE) and Junior Certificate Education (JCE) examinations.
