Situated on the southern tip of the Island on a crescent beach liesKaya Mawa (meaning ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ in the local dialect), eleven rooms, each handcrafted and designed to fit into the surroundings whilst taking advantage of the breathtaking views across the Lake, has resulted in each room having its own feel and design. Decks and access to the lake or a private plunge pool, makes it very hard to leave.

As the year comes to a close Kaya Mawa are heating up for the busy Christmas period ahead. The soothing weather this time of year is ideal for getting out in the sail boats or heading out kiting. Kaya Mawa has had a phenomenal year for accolades: They have received the Conde Nast Gold Standard Awards Top 5 Beach Hotels in the World, Best Malawian Hotel from the World Travel Awards, The Trip Advisor Travellers Choice for Families and now this month Kaya Mawa have won The Good Safari Award for Most Romantic Property in Africa. Kaya Mawa are very grateful to everyone who has, and continues to support them.

Meanwhile Kaya Mawa’s sister property Latitude 13 in Lilongwe is growing. They have managed to acquire the next door plot to Latitude 13 and have started building. Latitude 13 will be putting in a further 18 rooms all of them with sitting rooms and kitchens downstairs and then a mezzanine bedroom and bathroom upstairs. For those looking for good well-being a gym, spa and 18m heated lap pool has been added. Finally there will be a new bar and restaurant to compliment the existing ones, conference room able to seat 40 and a state of the art kitchen. Whats more Latitude will be embarking on a refit of the existing hotel in the new year, more on that next time.
