President Peter Mutharika today fulfilled one of his campaign promises which was to provide decent and affordable houses to many people under Decent and Affordable Housing Subsidy Programme.
He proudly stated that this was the manifestation of his government’s commitment to uplift the lives of rural people.
According to the President the programme seeks to provide subsidized cement, iron sheets and other related building materials for low income households and improve their own houses. He went on to say he expects this project will result in a major face lift of our country, especially in rural areas.
President Mutharika said it was a dream of his to see Malawians live in houses that accords them the dignity they deserve regardless of their different political, religious and cultural affiliations. Adequate and decent housing is a catalyst for development and one of the requirements for sustainable livelihoods.
