Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst commits suicide by jumping from 60-storey building

NEW YORK-(MaraviPost)-Former Miss USA, Cheslie Kryst, jumps to her death from a 60-storey Orion New York City high rise apartment building.

The family of the 30-year-old 2019 pageant winner confirmed the news of her demise in a statement.

“In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined.” reads part of the Statement from the family.

According to New York City Police Department, Kryst’s body was found at approximately 7 a.m. Sunday in front of the Orion building, a high-rise on West 42nd Street in midtown Manhattan.

Moments before her death, Kryst reportedly posted a her photo on Instagram with the caption “May this day bring you rest and peace”.

The former Division I athlete and North Carolina attorney received three degrees from two universities. She won the Miss USA pageant in May, 2019 before competed in the Miss Universe pageant that year. She also worked as a reporter for the Extra TV show.

She also operated a blog on fashion, White Collar Glam, for women’s workwear and volunteered for Dress for Success, CNN reported.

In a statement Sunday, the nationally syndicated program “Extra” described Kryst as “not just a vital part of our show, she was a beloved part of our Extra family and touched the entire staff. Our deepest condolences to all her family and friends.”

It is still unknown why she took her own life but Investigations have been launched into the incident.
