DOWA-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse government must put its house in order to serve Malawians better considering tension resurfaced in the social media over supremacy and existence.

The main partners’ in Tonse administration Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and UTM continue to tussle without basis.

UTM] says is remained steadfast and committed to its mission of serving the people of Malawi who ushered the current government into office to lead the nation.

The UTM was responding to media reports circulating in various social media platforms that its leadership has officially written the Speaker of the National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara to allocate its Members of Parliament [MPs] in the opposition benches in the forthcoming Budget Session of Parliament.

According to media reports this confirms to speculations that Malawi Vice President Saulosi Chilima has been quiet for a long time as if everything is good in the country and that he has been watching from a distance that things are not good in the Tonse Alliance government.

Due to pressure from the Religious body, Public Affairs Committee (PAC) and a Pastoral Letter by Roman Catholic Bishops, President Lazarus Chakwera dissolved his Cabinet that he will appoint a new one in 2 days to come, speaking for itself that he did not consult, he had a full cabinet already at hand.

In a statement signed by UTM Publicity Secretary Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo says the party has come across some concocted dark propaganda that it is circulating on social media purporting the UTM MPs have written the Speaker of Parliament to allocate them at the opposition benches.

“This is false, it is just a mountain malignant fantasies from ill minds,” reads the statement in part.

Mwenefumbo told  local media that most of its Party’s members are not happy with the way President Chakwera has appointed his cabinet.

However, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Publicity Secretary, Reverend Maurice Munthali told a local radio station that the sentiments expressed by Mwenefumbo are unfounded saying the MCP believes that the working relationship among the Tonse Alliance partners is cordial and intact.

Reverend Munthali said if Mwenefumbo is speaking on behalf of the UTM, is better to sit down and discuss the issues rather than taking them to the media that there is a problem in the Alliance.

Meanwhile, social media commentators have described the present cabinet as not far from the first cabinet saying it is a repeat of party sympathizers, loyalists with no hope of not turning around economic crisis in the country.

During the Swearing in ceremony of new appointed cabinet ministers and their deputies Chilima, was not present exposing cracks in the Tonse Alliance government.
