NAIROBI-(MaraviPost)-Tanzania’s artist Harmonize has been arrested over failure to make club appearances in Nairobi after collecting money from bar owners.
The police chief for Kilimani, Mbogo Muturi, confirmed the arrest of the ‘Happy Birthday’ hit-maker in a statement on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
Muturi said the station received complaints that the music star was supposed to perform at various entertainment spots, including the Africa Moja Concert at the KICC which he failed to show up in other placed forcing the organizers to request for a refund.
“We received complaints that he had not refunded money for shows he did not perform and the organisers want their money back, that is why he was arrested,” said Muturi.
Muturi added that the singer was locked up at the Kileleshwa Police Station and there are negotiations going on between him and the complaints.
One of the complaint, Jor Barsil, the director Captain’s Lounge club said he paid the star the sum of Sh450,000 to be at the club with his fans for 1 and half hours but the star only appeared for 5 minutes before he disappeared from the club.
Citizen Digital report indicated that while at the club, chaos erupted which left the musician with injuries and his car vandalized.
Meanwhile, he is being investigated for obtaining money by false pretense and is expected to be out once they have reached an agreement with the complainants.
The Mwaka Wangu hit maker landed in Kenya on Thursday ahead of the event dubbed Show Moja that was happening at the Kenyatta International Convention Center on Saturday and was supposed to leave the country on Sunday.
The arrest comes at a time when the star has been making headlines following successive heartbreaks with actress girlfriend Farida Kajala and Italian Sarah Michellotti.
