President Cyril Ramaphosa is cutting short his overseas visit to come home to deal with the electricity crisis.

He will return home from the UK after the Queen’s funeral tomorrow. Ramaphosa was scheduled to go back to the US.

The President reportedly held a virtual meeting with relevant cabinet ministers today about the power crisis.

Meanwhile Eskom has implemented Stage 6 power cuts following the tripping of generation units at Kusile and Kriel power stations.

At this stage, it’s not yet clear when this Stage 6 rolling blackout will end.

Meanwhile, Eskom blackouts are costing South Africa’s economy R10bn daily, according to energy expert, David Lipschitz.

He says the power utility is actually cutting power 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
