ZOMBA-(MaraviPost)-The Member of Parliament (MP) for Zomba Malosa Constituency, Grace Kwelepeta has warned that she will mobilize her constituents and hold vigils at the offices of the District Commissioner in the district should the council fail to allocate a truck full of maize to her constituency to benefit people who are vulnerable to hunger according to MVAC report.
Kwelepeta, who spent a night at the Zomba Works Training Center guarding the truck on January 5, 2024, disclosed that she was surprised that since the exercise which will take place in six months started in October, her constituency has received the maize just once while the rest of the constituencies have been receiving the same every month.
“I have slept here and this is just the beginning as it’s a sole vigil but should the council make the mistake of not allocating the truck to my constituency, then I will mobilize the whole constituency to join me at the DC’s offices,” she warned.
The lawmaker added that she is surprised that despite that the exercise is coming to an end in March, her area is yet to receive an allocation for November, December and January.
The Zomba City Council authorities are yet to respond to the lawmaker action.
About four million people are in dire need of food across the country.
