LILONGWE Maravipost: The leader of the opposition, George Chaponda, described Chakwera’s decision to deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA) to every district in the country as a waste of resources.
Chaponda said this on Tuesday, March 11th, during an interview with Maravipost, after the president engaged youth from Blantyre, Lilongwe, and Mzuzu and awarded them Mk200,000 each.

According to him, SONA should be discussed in the August House, and Chakwera’s move is in contradiction with the country’s constitution.
He adds that his government is currently making every effort to gain sympathy from Malawians as we are approaching elections.
According to him, his stand is that the SONA is not credible and does not have an economic impact that can improve the lives of Malawians.

“We believe that the Matyrs compensation is in line with political gains, but all in all, the move is good,”said Chaponda.
Recently, economic analysts criticized the distribution of money on Martyrs Day, attributing it to the political stage.
