LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-It never rains but pours for opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Youth Director Norman Chisale as trouble breeds.

On Friday, March 21, 2025 the High Court’s Financial Crimes Division in Lilongwe threw out an application made by lawyers representing former presidential aide Chisale in a case where he is accused of accumulating unexplained wealth.

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Masauko Chamkakala, says the defence was claiming that the alleged crime levelled against Chisale was committed before the Financial Crimes Act was enacted, but the court has ruled that other legal instruments still criminalised the offence at the time.

Chamkakala added that the prosecution has also amended the charge sheet after the defence sought clarification on the two charges, which include money laundering and having more than what you can declare.

Lawyers representing the accused were not available for comment.

The case will continue on Tuesday next week when the prosecution is expected to start parading witnesses.

Chisale is also in court for Malawi School Certificate Education (MSCE) fake case.
