LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-One of Malawi’s well-known businesswomen and philanthropists, Chawezi Banda, popularly known as ChaCha has handed over a newly constructed waiting shelter to Lingadzi Police in Area 18, Lilongwe.

The shelter is intended to serve people who come to report cases or visit their relatives at the station.

Through her spokesperson, Lackin Moffat said “This is just one of the many charitable initiatives she is undertaking across the country.

“She has also been supporting education and health initiatives. The donation fulfills a request that was made by Lingadzi Police authorities”.

He added, “Many people think that in order to help someone you need to be extremely wealthy, but what we are showing here today is that in our country, helping does not require having a lot”.

Senior Superintendent Kennedy Sangala of Lingadzi Police said the shelter will help reduce the challenges people face when waiting in the sun or rain to report cases or visit relatives.

Group Village Head Sandram Banda of Area 18 added that since Lingadzi Police serves a large population, the shelter will greatly improve the experience of community members when they come seeking help.
