LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) keeps on sidelining veteran politician cum academician Professor Aaron Gadama.
Professor Gadama has not been seen during any public presidential gathering since last year till todate.
Gadama has not even given any government position despite rich in academic, reputation and experience in politics with clean records.
Reports with DPP administration allege that being pure Chewa from Kasungu and a person described as devoid of easy manipulation, those in the advisory to DPP leader Peter Mutharika feel uncomfortable with Gadama.
As a result, other people have been preferred for key positions instead of him.
This is being viewed by observers as DPP demonstrating that it is indeed a tribalistic political party.
Professor Gadama holds a PhD in economics and Doctorate in Business Administration DBA and works as visiting professor Leeds University in London.
He also serves as Senior Advisor to Chewa King Karonga Gawa Undi, who is the King of Malawi zambia and Mozambique.
The Democratic Progressive Party – DPP in Malawi has been lebelled as “tribalistic”
DPP’s strongest support has historically been in the Southern Region, especially the Lhomwe belt hence public appointments have always been dominated by these districts Thyolo, Mulanje, Phalombe. Critics point to that and say the party relies on Lhomwe identity politics.
No wander Back in 2012, some online publications, reported a story headlined “DPP plays tribal card” where a DPP senior member, was accused of saying “no one from the Northern Region will ever rule Malawi”. Opponents bring that up as evidence of divisive rhetoric.
Gadama has strong experience in managing macro and social economic growth. And well exposed at international level.
Others are saying because he showed ambitions of taking over from APM when DPP was in opposition and it’s believed that they’re doing this deliberately to shatter him on his ambitions of taking over the party, but on his response he said for now I have some other things am focusing and build myself.
But how long will Gadama going to be sidelined to help Mutharika leadership?
Is being typical Chewa a crime?
