BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi has assured its members and the community within and around Likoma redemption from the great memorable performances of different groups participating in 2019 Choir competition at Archdeaconry level.
Diocesan Youth Coordinator for Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi, Rev Fr Anthony Chimphanda made the assurance during the phone interviews with Maravi post.
Fr. Chimphanda mentioned that the competition’s main purpose is to glorify God together through singing, to celebrate and appreciate the talent the young people have in the church.
He added that such competitions do encourage the people to continue singing in the Church.
Chimphanda further said that competition’s organizing committee is in its final stages with all the needed preparations for a great Likoma Archdeaconry choir competition slated to November 30, 2019 at Likoma Resource Centre Hall.
“Likoma archdeaconry competition is a procedure of selecting the top three choirs to join the 13 other choirs that emerged top three in other archdeaconries.
“All the top three choirs from each of the six Archdeaconries such as Karonga, Mzimba, Mzuzu, Nkhata-Bay North, Nkhata-Bay South and Likoma will compete at diocese level for the grand prize early next year,” he said.
He adds, “Apart from giving young people a heart of willingness to live, discover and pursue right goals in life, through the competitions, Anglican Church has imparted the people including youths with knowledge of various health and environment issues that affect them in their daily living.
“We are killing two birds with one stone because through conducting choir competitions we have also managed to conduct Archdeaconry Youth Conferences from Fridays through Sundays scheduled for the competition”.
This is the second time Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi organized a choir competition since 2016.
Since then the choirs are encouraged to continue worshiping and glorifying the Lord through singing wholeheartedly.
This year’s choir competition commenced on August 19, 2019 in Mzimba.
Through the choir competitions and youth conferences, Northern Anglican Church has managed to impart skills and knowledge to the people on leadership, share different experiences, discover hidden talents in them, change their mindset and lives spiritually and morally.
“The competitions and youth conferences have stirred and challenged the participants to know their responsibility to love, grow trees and care for the environment as God instructed in Genesis 1:26-36.
“The top three from Likoma Archdeaconry will go away with MK35,000.00 for the first position, MK25,000.00 and MK20,000.00 for the second and third positions respectively. There will be free recording of the best 12 songs from the competition”, added Fr Chimphanda.
He has furthermore extended his heartfelt appreciation to Tigawani Holdings for the MK600,000.00 sponsorship for all the six Archdeaconries choir competitions.
He however appealed for the continuation of the sponsorship yearly.
