Silver Strikers FC bans supporters

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-A TNM Super League Side, Silver Strikers Football Club, has banned ten of its supporters from watching and supporting any of its games against other teams for two years.

The ban comes on the heels of the violence that ensued when the Club was playing Blue Eagles in the Semi-finals of the MK20 million FISD Challenge Cup two weeks ago.

According to the Silver Strikers FC Acting General Secretary, Innocent Kadammanja, the decision to ban the supporters has been made to sanitise the reputation of the Club.

“This is quite true and it has been taken as a deterrent measure to warn other would-be perpetrators of such violence to keep peace during other Silver Strikers games, ” said Kadammanja.

During the fracas, two of the Club’s supporters got seriously injured and were rushed to the hospital.

The fracas started after the referee, Mayamiko Kanjere, red carded the Club’s striker, Kuda Muyaba.

Meanwhile, the Club has been charged with six counts, including: beating and bullying of opponents, causing match abandonment and bringing the game of football into disrepute.

Silver Strikers lost 4-0 to Blue Eagles Football Club
