MEC: Resumption of the by-election process in Lilongwe South Constituency

In a statement made available to the Maravi Post, The Malawi Electoral Commission wishes to inform the public that, following consultations with electoral stakeholders, it has resolved to resume the byelection process in Lilongwe South Constituency.

The calendar of events will be as follows:

• Official campaign closes on 28th January 2020 at 6.00AM
• Voting: 30th January 2020
• Results announcement: 31st January 2020

All registered voters in the Constituency are encouraged to go in large numbers to exercise their right to vote.

As part of the by-election process, the Commission shall hold a stakeholders’ meeting on 20th January 2020 at Malingunde TDC in the constituency where it shall provide all information and release the electoral calendar. All stakeholders are invited to this meeting.
