LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The northern region outfit Ekwendeni Hammers were on Friday, May 7, 2021 denied training at Nankhaka ground at Area 30 Malawi Police ground in the capital Lilongwe.
According to media officer of the club Brighton Tchongwe, the team called the general Secretary for Blue Eagles FC that the Hammers may arrive late in the Capital City as they were delayed by President Chakwera Lazarus’s motorcade who was on his way to Northern part of Malawi on Friday.
Surprisingly on their arrival at the Nankhaka Stadium, the rookies from Ekwendeni in Mzuzu were told that they were late hence the gates can not be opened for them to do the training.
Tchongwe said the team was frustrated over the development.
His counterpart Steve Kumalonje denied not allowing the Hammers training, “I personally with the team manager was waiting for you at the ground and no communication was made available to us.
“We received a call 40 minutes after we left for our respective base and that was around past four, Kumalonje added.
The two teams meet tomorrow in the TNM Super League fixture at the same venue.
