BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Fleetwood Haiya has paid glowing tribute to Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) for its long standing sponsorship of the country’s top flight football league.
Haiya praised TNM for committing 18 years to the elite league, describing the partnership as one of the most remarkable sponsorship journeys in Malawian sport.
Writing on his official Facebook page, the FAM president expressed gratitude to Malawi’s mobile network provider, noting that sustaining top level football sponsorship for nearly two decades is an extraordinary achievement.
The commendation comes at a time when Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has confirmed FDH Bank as the new sponsor of the elite league.
The announcement effectively marked the end of TNM’s sponsorship tenure, bringing to a close a relationship that has shaped the modern era of Malawian football.
TNM began sponsoring the league in 2006, a period when local football required strong corporate backing to ensure stability and growth.
Over the years, the competition evolved into the TNM Super League, becoming one of the most recognizable football brands in the country.
Clubs, players and supporters benefited from the consistency brought by TNM’s support, which helped sustain league operations through both prosperous and challenging seasons.
Despite the conclusion of the sponsorship deal, Haiya emphasized that TNM’s contribution to football will not be forgotten.
He revealed that FAM is ready to honor TNM with a commemorative cup as a sign of appreciation, should the company wish to remain involved in the football space.
Haiya further stated that the doors remain open for TNM to continue partnering with football in other capacities.
According to the FAM president, continued involvement would see the company receive even greater value and recognition than before.
His remarks highlighted the importance of long term partnerships in developing and sustaining the local game.
