BLANTYRE, Sept 19: Faces and names of three more housemates in the Big Brother Hotshots have been unveiled, bringing to six the total number of housemates so far known before the continent’s top reality show kicks off October 5.
Esther
According to the official Big Brother 2014 website, the new housemates released on Friday, September 19 are Esther from Uganda, said to have a “ sparkling personality” who looks set to shine inside the Big Brother house. She says she’s very funny and can make people laugh.
Goitse
Goitse is from Botswana and she’s “happy to entertain you.” With a street-smart fashion style and a personality she describes as “vibrant, bold and outgoing,” she is sure to be another exciting addition to the house.
Idris
Idris is a photographer from Tanzania, filled with positive energy. He admits to having a strategy, hoping that his fellow housemates will turn to him “when they want to be inspired or when they feel down.”
On Thursday, Big Brother released the faces and names of three contestants on its official website: Butterphly is from Zimbabwe, Alusa from Kenya and Ellah from Uganda.
Ellah
The feisty Ellah is the reigning Miss Uganda and she promises Africa a “cocktail of personality” with a rough edge.
Alusa
Alusa, by his own definition is an “extrovert with discretion”, who promises viewers that coming into the Hotshots house as himself is enough entertainment.
Butterphly
The bubbly Butterphly embraces her inner celebrity and can’t wait for Africa to meet her. The ambitious Zimbabwean hopes to make herself endearing in a way that audiences can’t help but want to keep her in the Hotshots house. She is a radio and television presenter and her real name is Tariro Mharapara.
Some 14 countries, with two participants each, are participating in this contest and the winner after 90 days will walk away with $300,000.
The show, delayed by weeks after the studios were gutted by fire, will be officially launched on October 5, organisers M-Net and series producers Endemol SA said.
The show organisers said the new and undoubtedly glamorous Big Brother house is in the process of being designed and fitted with cutting edge camera equipment and broadcast technology that makes the show unique in its format.
No Malawian has won the Big brother show, although Hazel warren came close to bringing home $300,000 as she was a runners –up in Brother Brother 3.
