BLANTYRE(MaraviPost)—Blantyre United’s poor run in the country’s fright league continued on Sunday when they lost to Azam Tigers at the Kamuzu Stadium in the commercial city of Blantyre.
United, popularly known as ‘Mphembedzu’, lost to Tigers 0-1 courtesy of Bright Munthali’s 79th goal. Munthali dribbled past the goalkeeper before hitting the back of the net.
Blantyre United were a marvel to watch in the first half, pushing the Kau-Kau boys onto the back foot but Tigers goalie Thomas Kalavina kept on denying them a chance to score with his brilliant saves.
United wanted a win to get out of the relegation zone but the loss has seen them maintaining the 13th position while Tigers are on seventh position.
United’s impressive run was in 2012/2013 season under the guidance of mentor Elia Kananji who is currently with the hottest title contenders Big Bullets.
