Kassam and Chakwera

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Exposed! Scanting reports reaching The Maravi Post disclose that a docket has been finalised and shortly police will start knocking on the doors of Indian businessperson Waheed Kassam.

Kassam is implicated a case where registered Trustees of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) want court involvement in claiming the land now housing Bisnowaty filling and supermarket, the UNICEF offices and the National Audit Office.

This follows the manner how the said land was sold to David Bisnowaty who later sold the land to Waheed Kassam of MANOBEC limited in Lilongwe.

This publication understands that at the time of the first transaction in 1998, Bisnowaty claimed that Dr Heatherwick Ntaba and late Gwanda Chakumba owed him money. By then the two were treasure general and party president, respectively.

The whole process, details show, had not any endorsement of MCP National Executive Committee and this was what led the two from stepping out of MCP.

With the United Democratic Front (UDF) in power it was smooth sailing for the two politicians and business man Bisnowaty.

It is further alleged that in 2004, Bisnowaty sold the land housing the National Audit Office to Waheed Kassam after sensing that MCP might come back to power.

“In 2013 he sold everything to Waheed Kassam and tried to doctor all the documents so that they would not attract shrills as it’s the case today. This was the time Dr Lazarus Chakwera joined the political bandwagon and was in charge of MCP,” said the source.

“The case is simple, does Bisnowaty have any approved documents from Kwacha trust the owners of the land? Was John Tembo involved? Why did Ntaba and Chakumba loose support in the party after the Illegally sold land matter came to the surface?” said the source.

Kassam has never come out to clear his name on various corrupt tendencies reports on several attempt this publication has tried but rather issuing threats for law suit.

President Lazarus Chakwera is reportedly to be close friend of Kassam.
