LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Central Region Gateway Mall netball league, worth MK24 million, is set to be launched on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at MPICO’s Gateway Mall Netball Court.
Yamikani Khungwa, the General Secretary of the Central Region Netball Committee, has confirmed the event and stated that the activities will commence at 12:00 PM with a parade from Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) Msonkho House to Gateway Mall.
“We are pleased to announce the launch of the Central Region MPICO Gateway Mall netball league. After a long absence. We are excited to have the league back. We anticipate a vibrant and lively event,” said Khungwa.
In addition to the launch, traditional dances will be performed to enhance the festive atmosphere.
The morning session will feature a match between Adorable Queens and Vanessa Queens, while the afternoon session will see a battle between Young Eagles netball team and Immigration.
The Mayor of Lilongwe City, His Worship Richard Banda, is expected to grace the occasion.
Sixteen teams are expected to participate in the league, which is scheduled to conclude in the first week of November 2023.
The MPICO Gateway Mall Netball league in the Central region is making a comeback after a hiatus caused by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The defending champions of the league are Blue Eagles Netball Team.
