FRANCIS TOWN-(MaraviPost)-Silver Strikers Ladies FC suffered a 3-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers in Botswana.

The match was played at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown, Botswana, and was streamed live on the COSAFA YouTube channel.

Karabo Dlamini scored twice in the opening 19 minutes, finding the net in the 11th and 19th minutes to give the South African side a commanding lead in the first half.

In the second half Isabella Ludwig added Sundowns’ third goal in the 51st minute as the South African giants secured all three points.

Speaking to the MaraviPost Sports Desk after the match, Silver Strikers Ladies coach Patricio Kulemeka admitted that his team’s game plan did not work.

“Our plan did not work, but the chances are still open. After winning our next game, we can still make it,” Kulemeka said.

Kulemeka said his players allowed Sundowns to exploit spaces, particularly in midfield, which contributed to the defeat.

“We lost the game because of the spaces we opened, especially in midfield, but we will work on that during training,” he said.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have now collected six points from their two matches and sit in a position one in Group B.

Silver Strikers Ladies will now turn their attention to their final group match against Nsingizini Hotspurs Ladies FC of Eswatini.

The match is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 12 noon at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown.

Silver Strikers Ladies will need a positive result to keep their hopes of advancing to the next stage alive.
