LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 highlighted the significance of promoting the mining industry in the country, saying it is key to transforming the county’s economic growth.
Speaking during his whistle-stop rally at Kasiya Trading Center in Lilongwe, President Chakwera said the mining industry is crucial in revamping the economic landscape of the country.
President Chakwera has since assured the people of Kasiya that the area will soon begin reaping the benefits of its vast mineral resources as his administration intends to promote the mining sector by establishing mining companies to unlock the mining potential of the country.
Also addressing a gathering at Malembo Trading Center President Chakwera encouraged traditional leaders in the area to take lead in mobilising citizens to vote in the upcoming September 16 elections and promote peace and unity throughout the campaign period.
