CUMO donates to Diamphwi Health Centre

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Concern Universal Microfinance Organization (CUMO) on Saturday July 30, 2022 donated assorted items worthy over MK4 million to Diamphwi Health Centre as well as its long serving customers at Linthipe and Chimbiya communities during its 15 years of operation celebration.

The items includes: sterilizer, blankets, cauch bed to the hospital and solar home systems to its clients.

Speaking during the official hand over ceremony, CUMO Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Phiri said they thought it wise to cerebrate their birthday while giving back to the communities.

Phiri said they donated such items to Diamphwi Healthy Centre so as to maintain good health of their clients being the closest one to them.

Meanwhile, Phiri promised Malawians to continue improving their services to the clients so that women and families in rural areas become more financially and economically stable .

Lilongwe District Health Officer Bertha Kaudza applauded CUMO for providing them with the items the facility was lacking.

She said being a martenity facility, the items will assist their workers in autocraving some of the equipments used in labour ward and out patients department.

Kaudzu then advised workers at the facility to take good care of the items.

She however appealed the government, partners and other players in health sector to assist them with drugs as there is shortage of drugs in most healthy Centres in the district.

One of a long serving member of CUMO who received a solar home system, Jabuli Salad had all smiles.

She told us that she joined CUMO in 2003 and since then, she has managed to build a house, send children to school and bought two motor bicycles through CUMO’s loans.

CUMO is a microfinance institution that facilitate village savings and provide micro credit and micro insurance services to rural communities .

So far, it is working in 23 Districts in Malawi and it has over72 thousands members across the country.
