LILONGWE (MaraviPost)-After a week of searching for the missing body of Forestry Spokesperson, Gift Matola Chimulu, a team of divers from Malawi Police on Saturday evening, March 19, 2022 managed to recover the dead body in a remote part of Linthipe river, district15 kilometres away from the tarmac road in Dedza.district
According to Cassim Manda, Dedza Police deputy publicist says he was firstly alerted of Chimulu’s missing on Monday, March 14 around 2 pm.
Dedza villagers managed to discover the body of Principal Forestry Officer Gerald Kamanga floating in Namanyungwi River, five kilometres away from the tarmac road.
“Dedza Police launched a frantic search for the missing forestry personnel until yesterday when he was sighted lying dead in a decomposed state and the family of late Chimulu identified the body,” says Manda.
Manda added that Chimulu together with colleague Kamanga swept away after the vehicle they were traveling in registration number KK 7419 Mazda Veresa plunged into Namanyungwi River on Sunday evening, March 13, 2022 near Kalinyeke Tollgate.
The police publicist said that vehicle which was in intensive damage was discovered on Monday, March 14, 2022, a kilometer away from the tarmac road.
The late Chimulu has therefore been buried today, Sunday March 20, 2022 at his home Vinjenje village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota district.
