Malawi needs MK394bn for complete Edu-Tech hub

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi needs about MK394 billion to have full digitized education hub to cater 8,000 public schools across the country.

The Education Technology hub will be the centre for huge data in promoting quality education in digital world.

Ministry Education’s Director of Science, Technology and innovation Chomora Mikeka told the budget analysis on education meeting this week Mponera, Dowa that Malawi needs Edu-Tech hub cope up with digitalized world in education.

Mikeka observes that digitalized education can not promoted if the nation lack high quality tech hub that connects schools across the country.

“We need MK394 billion for a full Education-Technology hub or centre that will connect over 8,000 public school across the country. We need initial MK2 billion to train teachers for the program.

“We want our public schools be compete with other SADC countries and beyond on digitized education while promoting science lessons. This is the reason we need our development partners come in for support,” appeals Mikeka.

Parliamentary committee on education chairperson Brainax Kaise, Nkhotakota South lawmaker lauds CSEC for always engaging the committee on budget analysis saying has improved the understand on education projects’ oversight.

Kayisi observes that the committee is able to monitor education projects with zeal and passion that any penny budgeted is accounted for.

CSEC Programs Manager Kisa Kumwenda says the organization will continue with advocacy for learners’ quality education promotion.

Kumwenda therefore expects serious oversight role from legislators on education budget amid.

The 2022/2023 National budget which is estimated at MK2.064 trillion has allocated MK447.66 billion on Education sector.
