LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-One of the country’s oldest charity groupings Rotary Club of Lilongwe over the weekend inducted George Namphambo its 57th President.
Namphambo takes over from Robert Chikuse who has been at the club’s hem from 2024 to 2025.
The new leadership is under the theme, “Unite for Good”.
Rotarian George runs the office from 2025 to 2026.
In his acceptance speech, Namphambo promised to have impactful projects to the communities including tree planting, free dental camps service, waste management, MACODA computer Lab rehabilitation and among others.
Rotarian George also pledged to advance peace and unity in the country ahead of the September 16, General elections.
“We only need to pick any rotary’s area focus to highlight the numerous challenges that we face.
“For instance, under the focus area of environmental protection, the threat of climate change has brought about lack of food and destruction of infrastructure as witnessed during Cyclone Freddy,” assures George.
Echoing the same, Rotary Club of Lilongwe outgoing President Robert, pledged support to his successor that the grouping be continued to serve the vulnerability communities in the country.
With active membership of 64, the club extends its charity works under District 9210 for Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Since its inception in 1969, the club has contributed greatly to communities livelihoods.
