BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-The United Transformation Movement (UTM) leader Dr. Dalitso Kabambe,has unveiled plans to develop a ‘Smart City’ in Mangochi, aiming to establish the district as Malawi’s top tourism destination.
Speaking on Wednesday at a whistle-stop rally at Chilipa Market, Kabambe outlined the initiative, which includes a state-of-the-art hospital, modernized road networks, tourist-friendly amenities, and upgraded accommodation facilities.
Highlighting Mangochi’s untapped potential, Kabambe stressed that strategic investments in infrastructure and community empowerment could propel the district to become the country’s leading tourism destination.
“Mangochi has everything it needs to thrive , natural beauty, cultural heritage, and hardworking people.What is missing is a government committed to unlocking these opportunities,” he said.
Kabambe contrasted UTM’s vision with what he described as the divisive politics of rivals.
“We are not here to play games or settle old scores. While others focus on revenge, UTM’s sole agenda is to uplift lives. We will work tirelessly to ensure tangible improvements in healthcare, livelihoods, and the tourism sector,” he said.
