LILONGWE (Maravipost): The Minister of energy accepted that the country is experiencing blackouts due to bad weather.
According to Ibrahim Matola, the minister responsible, councils should collaborate with ESCOM to cut down trees.
He pointed out that vandalism plays a role in the occurrence of blackouts.
He adds that ESCOM delays in reporting fault scenes are also another factor.
He urges Malawians to stop the ESCOM 2 team of retired officers who are duping money from people for illegal connections.
He then said his ministry has electrified 460 trading centers with an 85 percent rate.
He therefore said 700 trading centers have been designated for the Malawi Rural Electrification Program(MAREP) due to the fact that most machines were commissioned in 1985.
