LILONGWE Maravipost: Malawi Parliament is currently in a heated debate after the Speaker proposed a motion that the house should monitor CCTV cameras for the people who attacked opposition members at Parliament premises.
Being on a private members’ day, Thyolo Central moved a motion for the house to wave all relevant standing orders and allow the house to discuss the issue of the security of parliamentarians.
Commissioner Lilian Patel suggested to the August house that they watch the CCTV footage before making any progress.
The leader of the house, Chimwendo Banda, suggested that the members should first watch Ben Phiri’s footage for going to the CCTV camera room alone.
He was proven to be innocent by being the first to visit the CCTV camera and being accompanied by security personnel for being the first one to visit the CCTV camera, which they did and proved him innocent, as he was accompanied by security personnel.
The speaker maintained her rule for the house to watch the footage.
The Chief Whip of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Jappie Mhango, asked the speaker to proceed with her ruling as the August House agreed to watch the house.
