Malawi Police Officer in Mchinji Committed Suicide While On Duty

MaraviPost: A police officer in the boarder district of Mchinji on Thursday committed suicide while on duty, Mchinji police public relations officer Sub- Inspector Moses Kajawa Nyirenda has confirmed.

Nyirenda identifies the deceased as Constable Allan Chione who was on duty on that particular day but he left his friend where he committed suicide within Mchinji police station premises.

Mchinji spokesperson further said they are investigation on the course of his death as the Deceased left a suicide note which he said they will hand over to the parents of the deceased.

Sub- Inspector Nyirenda further said they are deeply concerned with what late Constable Allan Chione has done as any problem can be solved if shared to other people.

In 2010 another police officer committed suicide while on duty at Kamwendo Police station where he also left a suicide note which they also handed over to the deceased parents.

The body of late Constable Allan Chione is kept at Mchinji District Hospital.

Late Constable Chione hailed from Thelele village in the area of traditional authority Nthalire in Chitipa district and was born on 20th January 1983.

Chione joined Malawi police service 7 years ago, he left a wife and two children.
