Malawi President receives letters of credence from envoys, among them: Rwanda, Palestine and Thailand

Lilongwe: Ambassadors from numerous nations on Thursday presented their letters of credence to the State President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe. Among them were envoys from the Republic of Rwanda and the Kingdom of Thailand.

 

Other diplomats who presented their letters included: Dr. Jaffete Ngwata Phiri, from Zambia, Mr. Yanni Lacovou of Cyprus, Mr. Salimu Omar Abdu of Eritrea, Mrs. Taghrid Senouar of the State of Palestine, Mrs. Monique Mukaruliza of the Republic of Rwanda, Dr. Pornchai Danvivathana of the Kingdom of Thailand and Mrs. Sebnem Incesu of the Republic of Turkey.

Speaking to reporters after they presented their letters, the diplomats hailed the cordial relations that exist between their countries and Malawi. They expressed hope that this will continue for the benefit of the people of their respective countries.

 

Rwandan Ambassador to Malawi, Monique Mukaruliza, expressed her country’s hope for continued cooperation with Malawi in areas such as justice, agriculture, health, and gender equality.

 

She also said her country has made advances in the area of Information Communications Technology (ICT), and expressed her country’s willingness to share its experiences with Malawi.

 

On his part, Turkish envoy to Malawi, Ambassador Sebnem Incesu, expressed pleasure for having presented his letters to President Mutharika; he said this marked another milestone in the bilateral relations that has existed between Malawi and Turkey since 1970.

 

He said his country is interested in helping Malawi in the areas of education. The envoy observed that Malawi has a youthful population that needs further education.

 

 

“My country has great potential in education, and can assist Malawi, which has a lot youth who needs to go further with education. We can help through the provision of scholarships to enable them study in Turkey,” he said.

 

He also said his country has experience in other areas such as agriculture and tourism. He emphasizing that Malawi is a beautiful country, which can make great fortune in the tourism industry.

 

Taking their turn, ambassadors and high commissioners from Eritrea, The State of Palestine, Turkey and The Kingdom of Thailand, expressed optimism that the relationship that exists between their countries and Malawi, will continue to grow for the benefits of its people. They said there were more areas of cooperation.

 

The Zambian High Commissioner will be based in Malawi, while all the others will be based in other countries such as Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
