BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) a body mandated to collect revenue on behalf of the government, has managed to beat their target for quarter two of 2022/ 23 year.

MRA has managed to collect revenue amounting MK749 billion beating the target of MK742 billion.

Speaking to the media in Blantyre on Wednesday, October 26, 2022

MRA commissioner general John Biziwick, has attributed the success to measures they have put in place to curb smaggling of goods and to detect elements of tax invasion and avoidance.

Biziwick further revealed that with assistance from the world bank, MRA shortly will procure drones to assist in anti smaggling campaign.

The commissioner general was also optimistic that by the end of the year, MRA will beat a target of 1.5 trillion kwacha set by the government.

As the ministry of finance has promised that the availability of foreign currency will improve by the end of the year.
