LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Former Blue Eagles FC striker, Beston Jimu, scored three goals against Villa FC at Mchinji Community Ground in a rejuvenated Mchinji Derby in the round of 16 of the Nyasa Capital Finance Cup.
Referee Chipiliro Phiri started the match at 15:00 hours at the fully parked Mchinji Community Ground to determine who qualifies to the quarterfinals of the cup.
Villa FC despite playing at home started the game in a low note as they failed to keep possession of the ball,to complete passes as their left back was the way for highly spirited Mavuto Chipolopolo, Beston Jimu and Tonny Phiri no wonder at 12th minute of the match Jimu scored a beautiful goal.
First half ended 0-1 in favour of the visitors Extreme FC who also had exciting display that entertained the fans.Second half however started with both teams showcasing beautiful football with Villa FC Captain John Nana Jafallie,Buleya James and Junior Mbewe ignited fire but lacked composure and marksmanship.
Beston Jimu scored his second on 65th minute with a beautiful free kick before completing his hat trick at 90th minute.
The win for Extreme FC means they have qualified to the quarterfinals of CRFA MK8. 3 million Nyasa Capital Finance Cup and they have recovered from their 0-3 defeat in Chipiku league while Villa FC’s defeat has taken their tally of lost games to three in a row.
Wilson Magombo, Villa FC coach, acknowledged the defeat and said they were not good on the ball.He added they will focus in the league which they have also started badly in the second round.
Assistant coach Extreme FC, Chifuniro Chimkokomo, hailed his boys for the beautiful play they showcased in Mchinji derby,Saying after losing at home in Chipiku league they had hunger hence the punishment to Villa FC in the cup.
“We want to get the cup,we have good crop of players”, Chimkomkomo said.
After pulling a shocker in the round of 32 by defeating Mbabvi United FC, Nsaru United FC produced another sparkling results over Airborne Rangers FC.
Nsaru United FC won 6-7 in penalty shoot outs after playing to 2-2 draw in regulation time.Nsaru were trailing by 2 goals to nil till 85th minute when they pulled one back before equalizing in the 90th minute to take the match to penalties.
St Gabriel Medicals FC qualified to the next stage without kicking the ball after Green Rangers FC failed to show up at Namitondo.
Zaithwa FC continued with the beautiful run in the cup as they defeated Santhe ADMARC FC 2-0 with goals from Victor Masubi while Kawinga FC demolished division one side Dickson United FC 5-1.
Kamuzu Barracks RSV FC were booted out at home 2-3 by Dedza Young Soccer FC,Simbi FC defeated Wimbe United FC away in Kasungu 2-3 in penalty shoot outs after playing to 2-2 draw in 90 minutes.
The round of 16 games will continue this coming Wednesday as Simbi FC, Dedza Young Soccer FC, Kawinga FC ,St Gabriel Medicals FC,Zaithwa FC and Nsaru United FC have been granted Group and Agribusiness loans respectively as they sail through to the quarterfinals.
