Nyasa Capital Cup calls for Mchinji derby today

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Round 16 of the MK8.3 million Nyasa Capital Finance Cup in the central region will be played on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 with exciting fixtures at people’s disposal.

One of the fixture which will draw much attention is the Mchinji derby between Villa FC and Extreme FC.

The two have huge followers in Mchinji and surrounding areas including neighbouring countries Zambia and Mozambique.

The duo will be meeting for the first time in competitive game sanctioned by Central Region Football Association (CRFA).

Villa FC and Extreme FC match is the Mchinji rejuvenated Derby.

The long time Mchinji derby was between Mchinji Boma Stars and Mchinji Ranks FC which died almost 9 years ago as Mchinji Rank disbanded due to lack of sponsorship.

However Extreme FC which was born in 2018, joined Chipiku Division One League the same year and got promoted to premier division after they finished on third position.

Villa FC born in 2014 from Mlonyeni,played in Mchinji league for some years before securing Premier division slot from Mtsiliza United FC in 2022 season.

Fans for the two teams have been fighting verbally as were yet to meet in competitive games but rather the mere Bonanza’s in the district.

The duo have been doing better in the Chipiku Premier Division League in their maiden seasons.

Extreme FC finished as runners up in 2021 Chipiku Premier Division and reached the semifinals of FDH Bank Cup.

Who gets the Nyasa Capital Finance loan between the two? The answer will be known by end of the day today.

Another tough match will be between Zaithwa FC and Santhe ADMARC FC who have showed highly spirited performance in UNAYO division one.

Zaithwa FC defeated the defending champions Silver Strikers Reserve FC to reach this round.

Other fixtures Ekas Freight Wanderers FC host Blue Eagles RSV FC at Lilongwe Community ground, Wimbe United FC battle it out against Simbi FC at Pamanda ground, Kamuzu Barracks RSV FC will be up against Dedza Young Soccer at Kamuzu Barracks Ground, Nsaru United FC who pulled a shocker against Mbabvi United FC host the Flying Lions of Parachute Battalion, Airborne Rangers.

St Gabriel Medicals FC host Green Rangers FC at Namitondo Ground, Kawinga FC host Dickson United FC at Maliri ground.

The winners today will qualify to the quarterfinals of the cup.

The four teams which will qualify to the semifinals will play it in league format to determine the 2022 winner.

The champion will get MK1.5 million, runners up MK600,000,Third place MK250,000 and fourth placed MK150,000.
