LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-In what was a David and Goliath battle in the Chipiku Stores Premier division between Mchinji Boma Strikers and Villa FC at Mchinji Community ground, David, Villa FC won the battle by a goal to nil.
Villa FC on Sunday, May 8, 2022, defeated Mchinji Boma Strikers by a goal to nil in a rejuvenated Mchinji Boma Derby.
The lone goal was scored in the early minutes of the second half through Captain Jafalie John who took a long range shot after receiving beautiful pass from Junior Mbewe.
The battle played in a fully parked Mchinji Community ground started on a highly contest though Villa FC displayed good football than their elders Mchinji Boma who kept on chasing their own shadows in the first 10 minutes.
At about the 18th minute, Boma Strikers put the derby at balance as they settled well launching attacks but their frontliners lacked composure.
First half ended goalless. After the first half recess, Referee Newton Chirwa signalled for resumption of the battle in the final half.
This time Villa FC controlled each and every department making their counterparts to dance to their tune and no wonder they got that goal.
After being ashamed at home with on fire Villa players, Boma Strikers started playing physical game which they ended up being booked by the man in-charge of the game in black uniform, Newton Chirwa.
Anthony Mwalwanda and Locco Merci, Jaffalie John, Stephen George and Chikondi Solo lit fire for the Boma derby from both camps and satisfied supporters who were fully patronized the match at Mchinji Community Ground.
Boma Strikers did whatever they could to get an equalizer but it wasn’t to be as Villa FC defence denied them any penetration until Chirwa blew the whistle to end the match.
Yes, let it be known to the world that Villa FC have won the rejuvenated Boma Derby in Chipiku League which died 10 years ago between the then Mchinji Boma Stars and Mchinji Ranks.
Samuel Makunganya Assistant coach Boma Strikers FC accepted the defeat and hailed their counterparts for the win.
However, as a technical panel he said they have noted some improvements from previous game they played hence vowed to strengthen up and find a winning formula.
Thokozani Kaponda, Villa FC Coach was delighted for the win saying they reaped what they had sown as they had good preparations hence the result was a true reflection.
Kaponda added they will be having good preparations to continue collecting points being debutants in the Premier Division of the Chipiku Stores sponsored Central Region Football Association (CRFA).
The win for Villa FC means they have collected 10 points from 4 games they have played and sitting on 2nd position of Group C 2 points behind leaders Airborne Rangers who have 12 points from the same number of games.
Mchinji Boma Strikers are winless in two games anchoring the group.
Boma Strikers travels to Lilongwe Community ground to face their fellow strugglers Green Rangers while Villa FC host Ngolowindo FC at the same venue Mchinji Community ground on Monday,May 16,2022.
