Malawian Female Referee Kwimbira to officiate at Algarve Cup in Portugal

Blantyre, January 12: Malawi’s top female assistant referee Bernadettar Kwimbira is expected to travel to Portugal to officiate games at the 22nd edition of this year’s Algarve Cup from 4 to 11 March, 2015.

This is a 12 team event and participating teams are from Portugal, Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, USA, Japan and Sweden.

 

The Algarve Cup is a global invitational tournament for national teams in women’s association football hosted by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).

Held annually in the Algarve region of Portugal since 1994, it is one of the most prestigious and longest-running women’s international football events.

And Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has indicated that Kwimbira will also officiate at the 2015 Fifa Women World Cup in Canada in June.
