MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-There is commotion coupled with stampedes is some parts of the country during ministry of health’s walk-in interviews for Health Surveillance Assistant (HSAs)
Malawi government extended to interested people to the interviews but the exercise turned into horror where multitudes showed up.
There are stampedes that have left people with injuries.
For instance there was stampede at Katoto secondary school in Mzuzu where they are conducting HSA walk-in interviews.
Many people have been injured as number of casualties not yet known.
All casualties currently referred to Mzuzu Central Hospital.
President of the Society of Medical Doctors Dr. Victor Mithi told Zodiak online that the society is saddened by the death of people ‘who left home in the hope of getting employment’.
This just shows how unemployment levels Malawi is into among youths.
This is happening at a time the government administration is encouraging social distancing in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
