MANEB attributes success in curbing exam cheating, leakages to SAAEA membership

The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has credited its membership to the Southern Africa Association for Education Assessment (SAAEA) for enhancing its capacity to prevent cheating and leakage of examinations in the country.

MANEB Executive Director, Professor Dorothy Nampota, made this revelation after opening the SAAEA 2025-2030 Refining meeting in Blantyre.

According to Professor Nampota, MANEB’s partnership with SAAEA has enabled the board to adopt innovative technologies and best practices in examination administration.

This collaboration has facilitated the sharing of ideas and experiences among examination assessment boards in Africa, contributing to MANEB’s growth and success.

The SAAEA meeting, which brought together officials from several SADC countries, including South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, was opened by MANEB Board Chairperson, Professor Samson Sajidu. This gathering underscores the importance of regional collaboration in promoting excellence in education assessment.

MANEB’s achievements in examination administration have not gone unnoticed.

Recently, President Lazarus Chakwera commended the board for successfully implementing the online registration and payment system, as well as conducting leakage-free examinations.

Education experts, such as Limbani Nsapato, have also praised MANEB for its efforts in curbing examination malpractices.
