The arrest of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma remains valid and charges leveled against her must not be withdrawn.
This is a civil case between individuals not offices as some quarters of the society are portraying.
For starters, Office of the ACB is protected by the law that anyone occupying the Office must abid by statues that guides its operations which one of is secret of oath.
Chizuma is fully aware that breaching that oath, remains serious offence; automatic sacking including charged in the court of law.
Chizuma defiled ACB office’s oath by leaking serious investigations matter to a friend whose identity not fully disclosed.
In the January leaked audio, Chizuma made serious allegations on judges, church leaders, including Director of Public Prosecution ( DPP) Steven Kayuni.
Chizuma acknowledged the authenticity of the leaked audio, but President Lazarus Chakwera just rebuked her, that’s where the problem started.
ACB office statues are clear when such offence are committed.
If ACB Director was a man, Chakwera could have fired Chizuma.
Punishing someone for breaking the law does not look into gender, whether you are man or a woman.
You can’t be seen being courageous for anarchy but discipline in your professional.
Before Kayuni’s complaint to the police on Chizuma’s misconduct, another individual and grouping also resorted court remedy but the society looked into the matter as fighting Chizuma personally, very wrong. If you break the law, you face consequences despite being the head of government agency.
Chizuma ego always put the public in disarray by failing to assess her performance at ACB.
Martha Chizuma uses her Facebook friends and a few journalists in Malawi media houses to seek sympathy to cover up her misconduct and ego.
Remember, the last time Chizuma was about to be arrested on the same leaked audio per Mzuzu court ruling, she rushed into social media that eventually incited anger among Malawians.
This forced Malawi Police Service to postpone the arrest until last week.
Even if the police could have given a notice for summoning, Chizuma could again mobilise the same individuals for sympathy, which is wrong.
Due to ego, Chizuma cannot resign which will cost her life including family.
The only problem of this arrest, Chizuma was abushed as if she is a criminal, very wrong.
The police and whoever planned this arrest could do smartly like waiting her to be in the office then make such arrest.
Therefore, Kayuni is not at fault and charges must not be dropped on Chizuma to set as an example to any public officer who violates laws.
Chakwera could not wasted taxpayers money on Chizuma arrest enquiry as the matter is straight. She injured someone, then she must face the law.
But because thi is Malawi where most people fail to understand simple logic while politicking everything for personal interests.
Let the drama continues wasting hard-earned taxes on petty issues while public healthy facilities lack essential drugs, learners sit on trees for classes.
