This crucial initiative will begin on October 21 and run until November 3, 2024, focusing on registering eligible voters across 12 selected districts throughout the country.

In a recently released communique, MEC outlined the districts included in this initial registration phase, which aims to enhance participation in the electoral process. The targeted districts are as follows:

Mulanje

Central Region:

Northern Region:

This strategic approach to voter registration is part of MEC’s efforts to ensure that all eligible Malawians have the opportunity to participate in the upcoming elections. The selection of districts is designed to facilitate effective outreach and encourage widespread engagement among the electorate.

MEC has emphasized the importance of this voter registration phase, as it serves as a foundation for a transparent and inclusive electoral process. With the 2025 general elections on the horizon, the commission is keen on mobilizing citizens to register and exercise their democratic rights.

In preparation for the registration process, MEC has urged communities to spread the word about the registration dates and locations, emphasizing that every eligible voter’s participation is vital for the democratic process in Malawi. The commission will deploy trained personnel to assist with the registration process, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently.

As the date approaches, MEC is poised to play a crucial role in facilitating a seamless voter registration experience, reaffirming its commitment to upholding democratic principles in Malawi. The focus on these 12 districts marks the beginning of an essential journey toward the upcoming elections, setting the stage for increased political participation among Malawians nationwide.
