MZUZU (MaraviPost) — Mzuzu City Council Chief Executive (CEO) Thomas Chirwa says his office will officially open the city’s flea market this Tuesday, Maravi Post has learnt.
The new market will cater for small scale business vendors who currently have no space and ply their trade along the streets in the Central Business District.
Started about a decade ago, failure to complete the project was hampered by financial setbacks.
“We’ve completed almost everything in terms of renovations and maintenance. What is remaining is just painting,” Chirwa said in an interview.
According to Mzuzu Vendors Association leader Stanley Simbeye, the opening of the market was “long overdue.”
According to reports, the completion of the market was made possible with funding from Press Trust.
